Brett,
I've seen your last message on the mailing list. I didn't follow the discussion about stress from its biginning. But for what concern your problem I have a similar situation in a region of the NW-Alps even if on a minor scale. There we find N60-30E directed lineaments which show a lateral persistence of some Km up to 10--15Km. Also in this region the lineaments are incredibly evident and their expressions are fracturation zones of 100 to 500m of lateral persistence, but the displacement across them is very small and sometimes there are no evidences of slip.
In our case where slip occurs it seem to be recent since also quaternary deposits are slightly displaced. So many evidences bring us to interpret these faults as very young to incipient faults which still don't give evident displacement. I don't think this is the case of your study area, anyway, this is the contribution I can bring to your problem.
