I am very happy to announce the Call for Papers and Preliminary
Announcement for the 35th International Congress on Medieval Studies, May
4-7, 2000. The Call and related materials are available through the main
page of the Institute:
www.wmich.edu/medieval
As in past years, the summer Call gives full information on
Special, Sponsored, and General sessions as well as the forms necessary to
send proposals for papers. This year the MI site links to every related
website, if an organizer or organization sent one to the Congress
Committee.
The 2000 Call also announces, for the first time ever, a modest
travel awards program. It is the hope that in the future the Medieval
Institute will receive support from the community of medievalists,
foundations, and other sources to expand the travel awards program.
The printed version of the website goes to press early next week,
with mailing scheduled as soon as possible.
My thanks to John Chandler, for putting the Call on the web, and
to the many staff members at the Institute who aided the process, notably
Lisa Morrison, Linda Judy, Clifford Davidson, Thomas Seiler, Timothy
Graham, Lilla Kopar, Joshua Westgard, and Larry Swain.
