Abigail,
Whatever Robert Lerner writes about prophecy is magical to me; but there are
excellent things concerning Joachim's personal religious experiences,
successive illuminations, and his prophetic (hence exegetical) authority in the
essay by S. Wesseley (? spelling? I don't have the essay at hand) in *Prophecy
and eschatology* edited by Michael Wilks (Oxford : Blackwell for the
Ecclesiastical History Society, 1994).
By the way, I've just finished my paper for Fiore: the conference is in
September. All the Joachites will be there. They all know a lot more about the
Calabrian prophet than I do. But I'll be happy to relay any erudite questions.
