Your best starting point is the atar of St. Vincent Ferrer by
Giovanni Bellini in the church of SS. Giovanni e Paolo in Venice.
Bellini's polyptych has three registers, with the Annunciation
flanking the Pieta in the top register, the standing figure of St.
Vincent Ferrer flanked by Sts. Christopher and Sebastian in the
Middle, and miracles of St. Vincent Ferrer in the predella. I can't
remember off hand whether the miracle you refer to is presented, but
I remember a miracle of a drowned boy saved by St. Vincent. Try
Peter Humfrey's 'The Altarpiece in Renaissance Venice' for
information on the polyptych.
Hope this helps,
Gaby
