Dear Julia Barrow,
Not being anamnesistically challenged and thus never having experienced
any sort of memory loss whatever myself--and certainly never in a posting to
this learned list--I can hardly imagine what sort of experience you
are talking about.
Meanwhile, the idlely curious on the list (assuming that suchlike creatures
even exist) thank you for scratching his virtual itch.
Should you, in the normal course of things, come across or recall the nature
of Michael Lapidge's argument, please share.
After all, it's not every day one can pass the time hearing a good story about
deacons and ostriches.

(a) the Vita will sooner or later be edited by Michael Lapidge
(b) I know that somewhere recently, but I can't for the life of me
remember where, I came across a piece written by Michael Lapidge which
mentioned Oswald at Ripon and seemed to offer a different interpretation of
the deacons and ostriches phrase (and again I can't remember what). I was
hoping I could disguise my poor memory.
Regards
Julia Barrow>
Best to all from here,
Christopher
