Research Assistant required for learning technologies project
There is a vacancy for a Reseach Assistant to participate in a learning
technologies project in the Faculty of IT at the University of Brighton.
The learning technologies project aims to provide a flexible web-based
system to support online teaching and learning throughout the university.
Specific outcomes of the project will include:
* A discussion area combining elements of newsgroups, answer gardens and
collaborative filtering systems, incorporating various features to address
administrational and pedagogical issues.
* A means of sharing resources online via collaborative filtering.
* Support mechanisms such as automated generation of class lists, email
lists, mark sheets and so on.
The Research Assistant will be responsible for implementing these
facilities and others (as specified by the project team) using appropriate
technologies including Lotus Notes/Domino and some or all of DHTML, ASP,
Java and Javascript.
Candidates will have a strong technical background in Internet
technologies and programming. Knowledge of Lotus Notes/Domino would be an
advantage.
The post starts on 1st May and is fixed-term until the 31st December 2000.
Starting salary will be in the region of 13,500.
