Just to follow up on things, I ran a "words in title" search on OBIS (our
local library system). It turned up the following, which I paste in with
the hope that the format will transfer. I used "age of faith" and age of
reason". I wonder if the English use doesn't go back to Thomas Paine's
blast. Being the kind of library it is, OBerlin has a whole library cart
of replies to Mr. Paine's unsettling words! ( :-) ).
The Durants also used "Age of Reason" as you will see.
