Dear Fellow List-Members
A friend on the staff of the diocesan archives in Barcelona has asked me to
inquire about representations of Christ in glory in which the raised hand
appears to have five long fingers and absent thumb. Ignasi says he has come
across a small number of instances and wants to establish a larger corpus before
exploring any explanations. One of his cases is the painting in the hall of St
Thomas' (Eastbridge) Hospital, Canterbury, but I haven't seen this myself, so
cannot comment.
Thanks in advance.
