@@@@ as you point out so well, our individual responses are based on our
own views of the universe and how we fit into it. when asked a few years
ago how i conducted my professional career, i listed 3 rules. the 1st of
them was "be loyal to people always, and to institutions never."
accordingly, i don't care what happens to JAMA (so you've misread me if
you think i care a jot about the journal's credibility) but i do care
desperately what happens to my friends left in its hulk, and will act so
as to make their experiences of this affair a little less lonely, scarey
and painful.
