Partnerships in the Electronic Age: The Asia Pacific Experience
A free MCB and Library Link Lunch, Workshop and Discussion Group
for IFLA attendees -
Monday 23 August 1999, 12.00 -2.30pm Room 211, Bangkok International
Trade & Exhibition Centre, Bangkok
MCB University Press and Library Link is holding an interactive
workshop over lunch on Monday 23 August 1999 from 12.00.
"Partnerships in the Electronic Age" will provide a forum for the
exchange of ideas and information. The format of the workshop will
be a light lunch followed by a brief presentation. There will then
be a discussion of the challenges facing librarians, publishers and
vendors - how can they work together to provide solutions and
opportunities in the electronic age?
Librarians, library governors, LIS academics and others interested in
the resources and initiatives of MCB University Press are invited to
attend. We envisage that it will be a lively and interesting two
hours, building on emergent issues from the MCB and Library Link
workshop held during the ALA Mid-Winter event.
Key themes will include:
The Role of the Librarian in the New Electronic Age
Electronic information: Issues for Library Acquisition
and Usage
Consortia
Archiving: who should do it and how?
If you are attending IFLA, please register your place at the above
workshop by e-mailing Michelle Kelly at [log in to unmask] Places are
limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Library Link is a focal point for international debate on library
management and futures. It is a free resource, supported by 15

learned information about current issues in the field. In order to
join, simply visit the Library Link homepage and follow the links for
first time visitors. Should you require any further information,
please visit the Library Link homepage at http://www.liblink.co.uk or
visit us at the IFLA exhibition on stand 15.
As a precursor to the Workshop, an online discussion will take place at the
Library Link site http://www.liblink.co.uk/discussion.html. The discussion
is open to all.
