Kia Ora Karin, inregards to your ? PROM. I do not
know what intravenous pc is. At the base unit I
access as an independant midwife, we tend to take a
history and do a speculum examination for evidence of
liquor. You get to use the senses of sight, and smell
distinctly, and end of the day its the political
motivation of the safety issue. We do not rely on the
ph testing and therefore it is not carried out. I
might add however PROM can be hind or fore waters, and
sometimes this may not be picked up until a woman is
in labour. The treatment of antibiotic prophylaxis is
the same either way. I hope that is helpful. Janet.
