Also a good question but I worry about 'virtual collection' becoming more
important
(in the eyes of the public) than the real objects - a case of the medium
getting in the way
of the message (as someone said). In this respect the MGC Object of the
Week is
excellent - the text (if you have a magnifying glass - yes, I think it is
too small) enthuses
about the physical properties of the real object, not just the (very
pretty) image. A celeb's
name attached to the image draws attention to it (no doubt about that given
the comment
that the item has generated on this list).
