Berlin Area (as shown on the annexed 4 sheets of map "B")
[which Catudal notes was never made public, but may be now it being more
than 50 years since the protocol]
The Berlin are (by which expression is understood the territory of
"Greater Berlin" as defined by the Law of the 27th April, 1920) will be
jointly occupied by the armed forces of the USA< UK, and USSR, assigned by
the respective Commanders-inChief. For this purpose the territory of
"Greater Berlin" will be divided into the following three parts:-
North-Eastern part of "Greater Berlin" (districts of Pankow,
Prenzlauerberg, Mitte, Weissensee, Friedrichshain, Lichtenberg, Treptow,
Koepenick) will be occupied by the forces of the USSR:
North-Western part of "Greater Berlin" (districts of Reinickendorf,
Wedding, Tiergarten, Charlottenburg, Spandau, Wilmersdorf) will be occupied
by the forces of...
Southern part of "Greater Berlin" (districts of Zehlendorf, Steglitz,
Schoeneberg, Kreuzberg, Tempelhof, NeuCoelln) will be occupied by the
forces of...
The boundaries of districts within "Greater berlin", referrred to in the
foregoing descriptions, are those which existed after the coming into
effect of the decree published on 27th March, 1938 (Amtsblatt der
Reichshauptstadt Berlin No. 13 of 27th March, 1938, page 215).

Amending agreement on zones of occupation in Germany and administration of
"Greater Berlin" area - November 14, 1944
[source as above, pp3-5. This amendment changed the division zones of
Germany, and gave the NW area of Berlin to the UK, the S to the US and
changed a typographical error]
[Document 3]
Amending Agreement on zones of occupation in Germany and Administration of
the "Greater Berlin" area - July 26, 1945
[source as above, pp20-23. This final agreement amended the earlier
agreement to include France in the division of Germany and Berlin.
Additinoal paragrahs are to be inserted in the original agreement to divide
Germany into 4, not 3 zones, and these are given. Notes are given to change
'three' to 'four' for the number of powers occupying Berlin, but which bits
the French get are NOT listed (i recall, that like the German divisions,
they were taken out of the US and UK zones, and not a total redistribution
that affected the russians too)!! However, it is clear from the above, that
the original Prussian definition of Berlin was used to define the city
(which explains why several enclaves existed in East Germany and the
division of Berlin was along district lines. I cannot find a document I had
which defines which districts the French got. A little later it was
discovered that in several places, utilities overalpped district lines.
This was of major importance in the case when an airport overlapped British
and Russian districts, and land-swaps were made to keep it all in the
British zone(Catudal, p45, fn4; map Robinson p546]
