Dear Colleagues,
The South Thames Regional Biochemistry Update Group is holding an
afternoon meeting next week (17th March) on toxicological issues which
you might find both interesting and valueable.
We have eminent speakers and hope to address some of the a many practical
problems we encounter in the lab. If you have not already registered and
would like to attend please give Sarah MacArthur or Martyn Egerton a
phone call.
I include an enclosure with the programme for the meeting which is in

South-West Thames Region Biochemistry Update '99
Intoxicating Biochemistry
Biochemistry updates are a new activity for the Region. They are
organised through the Regions Chemical Pathology Advisory Group and the
old Study Group organisers. Following the success of our first update on
eScreeningi we are pleased to announce the next seminar. The afternoon
Updates are designed to be an opportunity for senior laboratory staff to
bring themselves up-to-date with current wisdom in a topical (or
troublesome) area of laboratory activity. They are not designed to be an
exposition of the latest research to be a means of preparing for
examinations. Participants will be expected to be conversant with the
practice in their own laboratory and to participate, with colleagues, in
a discussion with invited experts.
The next Update will loosely fall under the heading of Toxicology and
will be lead by a laboratory and clinical expert under a suitably
qualified chairman.
Further details will be circulated later in the year but you might like
to put the afternoon of 17th March in your diary and look forward to a
stimulating discussion about the use of Laboratory Toxicology Services
and the role of the laboratory in Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.
