National Forum for Information Planning (NFIP) News Release
14 December 1998 For immediate release
Library and Information Plans: Directory now published
The National Forum for Information Planning (NFIP) has issued its first
membership directory, covering 17 geographic-based and 8 national
subject-based Library and Information Plans (LIPs) and similar
organisations.
The NFIP Directory of Members '98/9 gives detailed information on
constitutions, aims and objectives, membership and funding structures,
activities, services, and full contact details. Among the organisations
covered are ARLIS (The Art Libraries Society UK & Ireland), BLIP
(Berkshire & Information Partnership), DEVLIP (Development Studies LIP),
and Grampian Information.
Compiled by former NFIP Chair Nick Fox from information supplied by the
25 organisations, the Directory is underwritten by the Library and
Information Co-operation Council (LINC), NFIP's parent body. "Library and
Information Plans: an enduring concept", LINC's recent publication in the
Issues in Focus series (No. 15), complements the Directory in promoting
information planning and networking.
NFIP Directory of Members '98/9 is published by Hatrics in A4 ring-binder
format, looseleaf, to facilitate revision and updating (95pp, ISBN 1
85975 228 4). Copies of the Directory, 30 pounds (+ 3 pounds p&p), are
available from Hatrics, 81 North Walls, Winchester SO23 8BY. Tel: 01962
