Might I suggest using patients: Ask the physician or trainee to bring along
a problem or question relating to a patient. get them to formulate the
question, send them away to find the evidence, perhaps with others do an
appraisal of the evidence, see whether they can use any of the EBM tools
such as NNT or LR to describe the evidence in alternative ways. Finally ask
them how they would implement change in response to this evidence. If they
are gold start stuff chuck in a question about economic analysis.
But i do not think it can be assessed abstractly in an exam type question -
although the maths of nnt etc can. THe point is to see whether they can get
from the consultation and answerable question and then track down that
evidence.
Best wishes
Martin

Subject: Assessing the potential for practising EBM
Hello everybody,
Has anyone come across an instument that would help in assessing the
potential for practising EBM among established primary care physicians &
potgraduate trainees?
Thanks
