I would just like to add to this to say that QSR NUD-ist is a good
programme but really needs to be used on the two conditions (as far
as I am concerned, having seen it used in anger!)
1. you need to have a fairly large amount of qualitative data that
you want to manipulate, otherwise the brain is a much swifter
categoriser
2. You really need to set it up at the outset before the data is
collected, since the information needs to be categorised and it takes
ages otherwise.
Finally remember the addage "garbage in - garbage out" software only
processes at the level that you feed data in. Having said all that
QSR NUD-ist can help to strengthen the validity of a qualitative
research project. Their website has a demo on it I think.
