Make that 601! I'm Jennifer Lockhart McLaughlin, currently at Georgia
State doing an M.Ed, but am also going to be at Georgia come autumn (I may
be running into Ms. Stewart). I did a year diploma course at University of
York in 90 at the Centre for Medieval Studies, but it all started with
Chaucer and the Wharram Percy dig (which is now closed and an English
Heritage site). The latter experience confirmed my interest.
I've been wanting to do sermons. At U Georgia I'll be starting my PhD in
English and Linguistics. I'm really looking to do something
rhetorical/linguistic involving discourse analysis
of sermons. I'd like to look at MEnglish sermons. Not sure of major
figures yet, but am looking at late ME...1200-1500. I joined the IMSSS
since someone on the MEDIEV-L list recommended it (as well as this list of
course). I got inspired by Wycliff at York...that controversy over
transubstantiation. He's just the sort of colorful figure I might want to
tackle.
I'll probably be mostly a lurker here for now, but I throw out a question
now and then. Looking forward to the discussions! Any ideas for me, in my
quest for sermon bib info, please send your suggestions!
Jennifer
