The British Archaeological Association holds an annual conference at a centre of
established importance in the medieval period, usually in the British Isles and
occasionally in mainland Europe, collating the results of recent research on major
cathedrals, minsters and abbeys and including visits to places of relevant
interest.
The conference for 1998 will be held in Windsor from 18 to 22 July:
Medieval Art and Architecture of Windsor Castle, Reading Abbey and Eton College
The 1998 Conference will be held at Royal Holloway College, Egham, Surrey. The
principal focus of the conference will be the history, archaeology, art and
architecture of Windsor Castle, which is close by, with particular attention to St
George's Chapel including studies of its stained glass, woodwork, tiles and
wall paintings. Visits are planned to both lower wards of the castle, to Eton
College, Reading Abbey and other local buildings and sites of interest.

Conference Scholarships (covering full cost including accommodation) are avaliable
to students. Scholars will be expected to attend all sessions of the
