I too am yet another lurker. I am a third-year doctoral student
in the Dept of History at Georgetown in Washington. I am, by training, an
Islamicist and am interested in comparative issues. I just finished an
article on anamnesistic ritual in medieval Islam and Christianity. My
dissertation topic in its preliminary proposal stages is marriage in 13th
c Spain in Islamic and Christian juristic and theological discourse.
Although much of the discussion on med-rel is a bit over my head and
outside my circle of competence, I truly enjoy the postings and am very
happy with the level of discussion provided here.
