Most of my messages are slightly tongue in cheek!

We are now gradually starting to replace the embedded DC metadata in all
ADAM & VADS web pages with the HTML 4.0 syntax, since none of the
editors we use seem to have a problem with it; if we discover any editor
problems, we'll just have to switch editors, as I believe it is
important to practice what you preach.
However, it's relatively straightforward for me to make this decision,
as we have a small number of very capable people writing HTML and
haven't made any major investments in terms of software or training; if
a larger number of users were concerned, I would undoubtedly adopt a
more cautious approach.
Cheers,
T.
