Dear Colleagues,
We have different view with from endocrinology colleagues about the
preparation of patients for Renin/Aldosterone (with posture test) for
suspected Conn's syndrome.
We would like to insist that patients should be off drug for one week
before the test but our clinical colleagues frequently found it's
difficult. (for control of hypertension etc)
So patients are usually put on one of the calcium channel blocker which was
described as one with the minimal effect on the Renin-Aldo axis. But when
we encounter borderline cases, we don't know what to blame.
Therefore, I would like to make a little survey on the group on what to do
with
1. preparation of patients
2. and drug treatment
before Renin/Aldosterone (with posture test) for suspected Conn's syndrome.
Is there other protocol that is good for both pathologist and endocrinologist?
Thanks
Nelson
