today is the feast of Ramon Llull; his reply is below.

I don't know where this 5 Sept. date comes from for the feast of the
Blessed R. Llull--acc. to my calendars it's either July 3 or Oct. 27. The
traditional date for his death is June 29, 1316. Acc. to Marti de Riquer,
Celestine's decision to abdicate was influenced by Llull's _Blanquerna_,
in which a fictional pope abdicates to return to the contemplative life.
