I, too, would be interested in knowing the answer to this. I recently ran
across a reference to Bonaventure in a sermon in which the preacher cites
Bonaventure as the author of a description of Christ's Passion. The
preacher states that, according to Bonaventure, Christ sweat water and
blood, was bound with his hands behind him like a thief. He was
blindfolded and pricked with thorns to the brain, all naked with bloody
wounds in the cold frost. The clothes, which had stuck to his bloody
body, had been ripped from him so that skin and flesh were hanging from
them. He was bound head and foot together in a round ball, naked, and
rolled in sharp gravel and then drawn on the cross. This is an
abbreviated paraphrase, but does this ring a bell with anyone? The
preacher then goes on to a description and an interpretation of the four
kinds of wood which made up the cross--cedar, cypress, palm, and olive.
If anyone can provide guidance or a reference in these matters, either to
Bonaventure or anyone else, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
