Dear List Members: I'm researching one Edward Upton who may or may not
have been assigned a parish in Buckinghamshire to combat Lollardy by
Philip Repingdon in 1402. I'll be in the UK next week for the Leeds
conference, and am itching to find out for certain whether Upton was
there (the sources I've found are mixed; half say he died in 1402, the
other half say he died in 1420; the Official History of Bucks, the one
published at the turn of the century by the Royal Historical Society,
is completely silent about the matter.) Does anyone out there have some
suggestions as to where in Buckinghamshire I might look, and with whom
I might talk. There's bound to be at least one expert on clerical
appointments in that area in the early 15th Century...
hopefully, Steve Lahey
