My name is Ann Marie Rasmussen, and I am
a professor (just made tenure) in the German Department at Duke
University in North Carolina. I work primarily on secular literature,
not religious texts, and have just finished a book on mothers and daughters
in medieval German literature. I team-teach an undergraduate survey course
called Aspects of Medieval Culture with a colleague from the history
department, so I am always trying to learn more about medieval
religiosity. My research areas are courtly love poetry, feminist
literary criticism and gender studies, and fifteenth century
literature. I am beginning a new research project on fifteenth
century secular literature that uses the motif of confession, usually with
humorous intent. I signed up on the list a couple weeks ago,
and am finding the queries and introductions and projects fascinating.
Thanks!
