My name is Felicitas Schmieder; I am teaching medieval history at the
Goethe-University of Frankfurt am Main/Germany. I wrote my PhD Thesis
about the image of the mongols in the christian west (13th to 15th
centuries), especially - from the point of view of medieval religion - the
mission and, even more important, the very different places the mongols were
given in the "history of the future". By now I´m working on the medieval
urban history of Frankfurt with a special interest on the different
saints as patrons of the altars (St. Bartholomew, St. George, Three Kings
and so on)
There is a graduate student of our institute who is, in lack of an own
mail-box, participating in mine:
Her name ist Astrid Krueger; she is preparing a PhD thesis on the
"Lorscher Rotulus", a litany of the 9th century containing 537 (in words:
fivehundred thirtyseven) saints from all over Europe (even the greek
east) who have to be identified, localized etc. But she will introduce
herself in a few days ...
