As acknowledged by the developers, the methods used in generating the MNI152 average resulted in a template that was slightly larger than average. The SPM unified segmentation normalization templates result in a more average sized brain. The difference is best seen in Figure 1:

I think it is important when reporting coordinates to describe your normalization process. For visualizing results, I like to use a template image that conforms to the normalization used. The MRIcroGL wiki page includes a template aligned to SPM's space:
