medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Dear All,
I am doing research on St. Rosalia of Palermo and have come across a document produced in the city in March 1421 that indicates that her feast day was celebrated on the Feast of the Ascension:
"in dicta festivitate Sancte Rosalie, que celebratur die gloriosissime Ascensionis Dominice"
I am struck by the fact that her celebration appears to have been movable and tied to the Easter cycle. I have not come across this much - if at all - and I am curious if anyone else has encountered something similar with another saint.
Thanks,
Dawn
