Dear Francois, Terry, and All,
As with many of the questions raised here, one can find the answer by doing some research. Even a few days of quick and dirty research will yield reasonable answers. Some of the answers will be quite good.
Many universities offer such programs, and some of them are excellent. These programs appear in a wide variety of disciplines and fields — not simply marketing construed in a narrow sense, but the richer, socially aware versions of marketing that appear under such labels as “macro marketing.” Some product development courses appear in schools of engineering, as well as in innovation programs, and more. They also appear in design programs, in applied arts, in informatics, and in at least a dozen other fields that involve creating products and services that will ultimately serve human needs in the real world.
If someone is willing to spend a few days on this, it is relatively easy to get some reasonable, responsive answers on such programs. The questions that can easily be answered are: what do they offer? what do they contain? At that point, it takes depth research to determine which among these offerings are good. The questions that are answered with greater difficulty are: does a program deliver what it promises? how does it function? how well does it work?
Perhaps someone on the list can answer these questions with respect to one or more specific programs. Or possibly, someone on the list would be willing to spend a couple days on the Web seeking quick answers.
Yours,
Ken
