This Lecturer/Senior Lecturer role focuses on delivering high quality teaching, research, and service in the School of Design, across various areas related to communication design research and practice. The appointed candidate should have a broad understanding of the value of communication design today in society and in culture, in New Zealand as well as internationally. The candidate should be familiar with contemporary discourse in the field and able to foster critical thinking.
As well as experience teaching in higher education, the candidate should have a strong professional portfolio, or research in communication design, with substantial expertise in one or more of the following areas:
• graphic design
• typography
• illustration or concept art
• motion graphics
• critical writing in design.
The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate an excellent creative practice, and/or an existing research programme, and will have identified strategies for further developing his or her research/creative practice within the School of Design's strategic research areas.
