Hello Kath, If you double bag, books respond well to freezing with the effect of making the gum brittle and should come away, with only a residue of colour left if you are lucky. Good Luck Deborah

Subject: getting gum off a book
Hi - requesting help on the above subject.
Someone stuck chewing gum on the top of pages of a volume in our local studies collection then turned the volume so the gum was on the bottom.
Many pages are now stuck together at the top due to gum.
Now if it was clothing I would put in a plastic bag and in the freezer - any thoughts on that for books?
All suggestions appreciated.
Many thanks,
Kath
