Please consider submitting an abstract to the following special session for the European Geosciences Union General assembly in Vienna 2018. Deadline for abstract submission is 10 January 2018.
SSP3.3./CL4.16/GM3.5 Marine records of continental environments (co-organized)
Conveners: Peter Clift, Sergio Andò , Annette Hahn
Reconstructing the evolution of continental environments and the history of erosion is critical to many fields of geological investigation including constraining the nature of climate-tectonic interactions as well as understanding the role that chemical weathering can play in controlling global environment. However, finding suitable records which will allow detailed reconstructions to be made can be problematic because of poor dating and unconformities in continental sequences. Often the best records are available in offshore sedimentary archives although this requires detailed knowledge of the source-to-sink process. In this session we encourage submission of studies from all parts of the world that have attempted to use marine sequences to examine how erosion, weathering and continental climate have evolved over a variety of timescales.
