Dear All
The Department of Earth Science, University of Bergen has two vacancies, one PhD and one postdoc, to work on rift basin sedimentation and tectonics. The deadline for applications for both positions is 8th December 2017, and full announcement details can be found on jobbnorge.no under reference number 144374 (PhD post) and 144373 (postdoc post). Applications have to be made on the jobbnorge.no website.
The PhD will study the Corinth Rift, Greece, and will involve fieldwork on basin margin depositional systems and associated structures, and analysis of the sedimentology and palaeoenvironment of core collected as part of the IODP Expedition 381. The PhD will work in collaboration with researchers involved in IODP Expedition 381. Good fieldwork skills and an ability to work as part of a team of scientists are essential skills for the PhD. Further details about the project and information on how to apply can be found at:

The postdoctoral position will investigate controls on sediment routing systems in rift basins and is part of a large research effort into understanding rift basin formation and the controls on rift basin stratigraphy. The project will investigate the interaction between source-related sediment supply signals and sink-related base-level changes in controlling syn-rift stratigraphy during progressive rift basin evolution. Further details about the project and information on how to apply can be found at:

Please let any students/postdocs who might be interested in surface processes, sedimentology and rift tectonics know about this opportunity.
Many thanks
Rob
