Dear all,
I am looking for a way to morphologically differentiate Rupicapra and Capra ibex singe teeth and Mandibula/Maxilla fragments. Yet, the studies I have found are concerned with postcranial remains only. Do you have any idea about morphological traits that could be used to distinguish both species beyond a mere difference in body size?
In my case, the size is of limited use as the faunal assemblage is dated to the late glacial period were many species appear to be much large than in early Holocene times. Furthermore, the number of specimens is rather small.
I very much appreciate any helpful comment on this matter.
Thank you very much and best regards
Elisabeth
