Dear Ursula,
We share that saying about getting off your high horse - in Europe there
are lots and lots of sculptures where men are featured on high horses in
public squares. There are some of these in Australia.
The Australia version is: “Don’t get off your bike (push-bike), I’ll pick
your dummy up”. This is certainly a different take on the problem and
indicates the larrikin indifference to authority arising from convict
origins.
Cheers
keith
