The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB) is among the largest departments of epidemiology in Europe with special focus on increasing our knowledge of the aetiology of different diseases.
The primary activities of the biostatistics group include (i) own research in design and analysis of population-based studies, genetic epidemiology and molecular epidemiology, (ii) collaboration with medical researchers, and (iii) biostatistics teaching both at undergraduate and graduate levels.
The successful applicant will join a research team with international collaborations and there will be opportunity for extended working visits at the Center of Biostatistics for Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Milan.
The position would suit applicants interested in developing a career in the intersection of biostatistics, epidemiology and clinical research.
The applicant should have good communication skills, be able to work closely with researchers from different disciplines and to acquire the necessary medical, biological and epidemiological knowledge as necessary to make meaningful contributions.To qualify, the applicant must hold a PhD degree in biostatistics or statistics with an interest in developing novel designs for epidemiological/clinical studies and a strong competence in the use of statistical software. The methodological work will be conducted in parallel with various applications in disease epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment, with a focus on identification of biomarkers in oncology.
