Summary
'Our vision is for land and landscape that is: healthy, beautiful, rich in culture and nature, enjoyable - and productive as a result.' Peter Nixon, Director of Land Landscape & Nature.
In the Land Landscape and Nature directorate we are on a mission - Delivering for nature. The 2010 Lawton report laid out the facts that showed that biodiversity in England and Wales is in decline. As large land owners we want to play our part in reversing this decline on our own land, and inspiring others to do the same. The National Trust look after more than 250,000 hectares of land, it’s not just ‘ownership’ but a complex picture of leasehold, freehold, licences, rights, covenants and other management arrangements, including some of the largest agri-environmental grant claims in Europe. Managing all of this information and identifying where we have opportunity to deliver for nature is a difficult task, as is reporting on how well we are doing. That is where you fit in.
