As well as knowing the type of specimen it is it would be good to know the clinical question:
• Unusual discharge?
• Suspicion of prostatitis? (Might need the help of another Department of Laboratory Medicine… )
• Suspicion of malignancy?
• Something to do with vasectomy etc?

PS: There’s a lot of esoteric analysis of seminal fluid done in different countries. I once heard a lecture on this in Egypt. No idea how much is evidence-based, or what UK laboratories currently do.
