Does anyone know of any papers that explore sheep symbolism in art and literature or the anthrozoology of sheep e.g. sheep as innocent lambs, protected by shepherds, their role in 'counting sheep' to sleep etc? There are many web sites that state general facts but I cannot find a good paper that examines sheep as symbols.
