Dear all,
I'm very glad to have discovered this listing!
I am a medical doctor, taking time out of clinical practice to undertake research into the use of Simulation in Medical Education.
My Supervisor and I are aiming to carry out a realist evaluation of a particular Simulation-based training programme. This one-day programme uses a mix of lecture, practical skills stations, simulated scenarios and debriefs with an aim of upskilling delegates and improving patient safety. It has been carried out at more than one centre.
I've cut and pasted my working plan below and would be hugely grateful for any feedback..
RE plan
Suggested basic steps in a RE (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20000246)
1. Elicit working theories. Select a promising theory
2. Formalise hypothetical context, mechanisms and outcome processes
3. Test the theory
4. Collect data
5. Present a refined (and improved) theory to inform future interventions
1) Elicit working theories
