Hi Fil,
False evidence is exactly what it says on the box. For example, the distance from Albuquerque to New York via the left turn is exactly 1498 mi.
The aim of rhetoric evidence is primarily to shape opinion. Rhetoric discourse can do this without being accurate to data. For example, 'The best ice cream in the world uses pure milk and cream. Creamygold ice cream is made from pure milk and cream. Creamygold ice cream is the wold's best ice cream.' However, on the data side, the reality is that CreamyGold ice cream only uses 1% pure milk and cream (the rest being fillers), compared to 16% in the better ice creams.
The rhetoric evidence supports the 'speculative opinion or statement to be tested' of 'Creamygold is the world's best ice cream'. However, the reality is that it is it not possible to use that form of evidence in research terms to justifiably test the 'speculative opinion or statement to be tested'.
Does that make more sense?
Warm regards,
Terence

Terry,
I was with you till the paragraph I included above. Then my brain missed the left turn at Albuquerque. Could you expand on this a bit?
