Hi Arabella
Mixing ET students with those who do not need AAs is standard practice. It causes no more disruption that different exams within the same room finishing at different times. I don’t know of any centre that can accommodate all AAs separately from the main venue or for that matter a venue per subject! I may stand corrected on this forum though :). We seat our ET students in the same venue but to one side so disruption is minimal and timings are easier to manage. Not all will use their ET anyway.
As for confidentiality I think it is quite a weak objection. In general students are only interested in their own exams and not anyone elses and barely notice what is happening other than at their own desk. There are so many reasons for ET and none of it is published to the students in general so I don’t think it’s a problem. Teaching staff/tutors aren’t necessarily au fait with exam rules and regs or your responsibilities, and perhaps a gentle reminder that you are using your professional judgement in your arrangements will be enough to quieten the person questioning you.

Subject: EXAM ROOMS - Concessions/Access Arrangements
I would be grateful to hear everyones thoughts/suggestions on this query...
I am a new exams coordinator at Aylesbury College.
I arranged extra rooms for candidates that require readers/scribes and I have placed those that require only extra time in the same room as those with no access arrangements but the tutor whos students' they are has sent me the response below which I have added for your viewing:
'I am surprised to see that those with extra time will be in the same room. Firstly, they will be disrupted by everyone else leaving and secondly, it is a breach of confidentiality as it highlights to all students that they have learning support and they do not necessarily wish others to know this about them.'
I have never recieved this query before and therefore felt it appropritate to raise on JISC.
Many thanks in advance.
