Wilber's work is cited here.
Wahl, D. C., & Baxter, S. (2008). The designer's role in facilitating sustainable solutions. Design Issues, 24(2), 72-83.
It is also accompanied by psychologist Clare Grave's Spiral Dynamics model.
Their frameworks have both the 'Scientific' and 'Systems Theory' modes covered too.
One can still transcend to the "Holistic" paradigm ;)
Table 1
Survival Sense /Archaic-Instinctual / Automatic
KinSpirit / Magical-Animistic / Animistic
PowerGods / PowerGods / Egocentric
TruthForce / Mythic Order / Absolutistic
StriveDrive / Scientific Achievement / Multiplistic
HumanBond / The Sensitive Self / Relativistic
FlexFlow / Integrative / Systemic
GlobalView / Holistic / Holistic
It's intriguing. Apparently each stage corresponds to a value MEME (vMEME).
These vMEMEs "can be understood as patterns of metadesign that determine why, what and how we design."
I wonder if any complimentary research exists that queries the value and belief systems of the designer (or the organisation for that matter)?
