Specialist Instructional Officer GIS (Geographic Information Systems)

Job description
The purpose of the job is to deliver and manage subject matter expertise in Geographic Information Systems and Cartography, with a particular emphasis on the representation and communication of geospatial information.
Responsibilities include the following:
• Delivering instruction on MSc, FDSc and Defence courses.
• Ensuring the provision of GIS and related technical and educational material for student learning.
• Maintaining technical proficiency and currency through familiarity with commercial developments and emerging operational requirements.
• The development and issue of appropriate assessment tasks for geographic representation and communication related topics.
• Maintaining professional links with appropriate institutions, academic and/or military organisations and industry.
Teaching experience is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant should be prepared to undertake further training in teaching, learning and assessment skills.
Qualifications:
L5 HND/HNC or equivalent in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) or a related subject.
A Geography or related degree would be an advantage.
