The world of innovation is a battlefield! "Nordstrom shrinks innovation lab, reassigns employees," and shuts down sites like the

It contained the words “We’re currently pivoting. We are currently working on a new website that reflects our recent changes in our process and purpose.” I accessed the innovation lab website on July 12 for the information I posted. Things obviously are still happening and its worth tracking down if someone has the time. innovation leader.com has an undated article entitled “Nordstrom Dissects an Innovative Project that Fizzled” and there has to be more coming, all object lessons for aspiring designers. We will doubtless soon see many pundits writing about what happened when a design team tries to actually innovate in a large company. I think we should appreciate what they were able to do to lead the field, and recognize that getting design integrated into established business is no cakewalk.
We have a lot to do to improve what goes on - including how to introduce and sustain our principles.
