Triad has an urgent requirement in Edinburgh for a GIS Data Specialist. The role will be an initial 10 month contract to cover a secondment. We can pay £130per day for this role and the client is looking to get someone in place urgently.
You will be responsible for the accurate, complete and timely maintenance of spatial and attribute records of assets held by my clients Corporate GIS, and to provide a high quality and efficient service to external and internal customers.
Key responsibilities
•Actively manage spatial casework transactions, providing regular reporting to the business in respect of the performance of third-parties undertaking the transactions
•Research and prepare spatial and attribute data for input to the Corporate GIS
•Digitise and capture spatial and attribute data using bespoke Corporate GIS editing tools
•Create a variety of plans & outputs to support internal users and managing agents in business decisions, the preparation of legal documents and marketing / presentation activity
•Sharing knowledge with team colleagues in the efficient use of spatial data and attributes from other business systems
•Sourcing, formatting, quality assurance and storage of Third Party spatial datasets
•Data cleansing and maintenance activities
•Promote GIS as a valuable tool in realising business needs, carry out useful ad-hoc GIS analysis
•Investigate efficient methods of working with spatial and attribute data to ensure continuous improvements are made to current practices
•Interpret historic and contemporary maps, deeds and other records to support title claims against my client.
a)Business Support:
•Interpretation of maps, plans, coordinates, admiralty charts, sketches, aerial photography, architectural & engineering drawings and spatial data, to ascertain the effect of proposals on my clients assets
•Analysis, interpretation and production of maps, plans and charts at various scales for legal documents, information purposes and ad-hoc requests from teams, managing agents and third parties
•Spatial and attribute data capture and on-going maintenance of my clients interests, assets and transactions
•Research relating to title deeds, files, records and historic mapping as and when required, including requests under the Freedom of Information Act
•Undertake data mining/collation activities as required
c)Records Management:
•Maintain Corporate GIS database including attribute information relating to spatially digitised data
•Generation of reports from Corporate GIS in response to data management and requests from internal staff, managing agents or other third-parties
•Sourcing, formatting, quality assurance and storage of Third Party spatial datasets
•Data cleansing and maintenance activities
•Create and maintain metadata
