Hi All
We have just installed the new Turnitin Direct Building block (2.5) for testing, and were quite keen to try out the flagged "new feature" of group filtering. Essentially, you can now create one assignment, but filter assignments using Blackboard groups. We have quite a few modules which have multiple markers, and were hoping to create groups to filter out assignments by tutor going forward, rather than having to create multiple assignments, or ask tutors to manually find assignments in the submissions inbox.
Unfortunately, once installed and closely reading the release notes, this feature only activates if anonymous marking is UNabled (!) I am not quite sure of logic of this as all it does is filter the list (although there might be a perfectly good reason which is currently escaping me!) Well, I reached out to Turnitin yesterday, asking for the logic behind this, and if there was a way to change this. The response I received was baffling to say the least.
They claim that the "new feature" of group filtering, which is touted on their website, is in fact a feature of Blackboard, and they have no control over this. Again, I fail to see the logic of this. I understand that *Groups* are a feature of BB, but the filtering is surely part of their tool?
Anyway, does anyone on this group have a opinion about this, and would group filter on anonymous marking be something that people would like to see?
Also, I noticed while doing some testing that when you use the new search box on the submissions inbox, you can filter the list by typing in a student name, even when the submission is set to anonymous marking! Also, unless I am doing something wrong, the new "launch grade rubric manager" from the submissions setting page only launches the manager, it does not allow you to actually attach a marking grid to an assignment.
Again, I might be doing things wrong as we only installed it yesterday, but thought I would garner experience from the wider community.
Cheers!
