We have set up iPads in two of our libraries, to work with the Wi-Fi, and give easier public access to some of our online services. They are secured in stands, so security isn't an issue. This has worked well so far, as the two libraries are busy and the iPads are in regular use.
We are now trying to establish these in our two library access points and have hit a stumbling block. If we set up the iPads with a passcode, to protect settings, after 4 hours of non-use the screen locks and some customers are continually trying to "crack" the code, disabling the device in the process - if this happens the iPad has to be removed from its point and taken back to a PC to restore it to its factory settings.
if we don't put a passcode on, some little darlings are creating one for us, and again locking the device with the same result as above.
Am I missing something obvious in the settings, or is there a way of locking the settings down so that customers can't lock us out?
