Subject: Fwd: Contributions Needed for ICA National Report (by 10 March!)
Dear Colleagues
Many thanks do those of you who have replied to my call for contributions for the map library section of the ICA International Report. It would be great, however, to have a few more!
This is your chance to advertise your activities over the last 4 years - exhibitions, acquisitions, innovations, digitisation, publications, refurbishments ...
The text does not have to be very long, but your wonderful achievements will only get included if you send me some text!
To give you a bit more time, the deadline for contributions has been extended to the end of Tuesday 10 March.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Anne

Dear colleagues
You may be aware that every 4 years the UK Cartographic Committee is tasked with compiling a National Report for the International Cartographic Association (ICA). I have been tasked with co-ordinating the Map Library contribution.
The National Report will be distributed to attendees at the International Cartographic Conference in Rio de Janeiro in August 2015 http://www.icc2015.org/, so this is your chance to advertise yourselves to a global audience!
The Report is a summary of all that has happened in cartography - and in your library - over the past 4 years, as well as plans for the next 4.
It cannot be compiled without input from colleagues round the county - i.e. you!
The full invitation is copied below but the key points are:
- contributions should be sent to me by **10 March**
- they should be 300-500 words long
- they can include a picture
The last report was published in 'The Cartographic Journal', volume 48, no. 3, August 2011. I can send a pdf if you do not have your own or an institutional subscription.
Please feel free to pass this email on.
(Contributions from map makers and industry should be sent to Howard Hudson at: [log in to unmask] though I will, of course, pass on any information I receive).
Many thanks
Anne

Invitation to Submit Information to the UK National report
8th Feburary 2015
UK National Report to the International Cartographic Association 2015
As one of the many organisations that make up the UK mapping community, I am seeking your contribution to the UK’s four yearly report to the International Cartographic Association (ICA), to be published at the conference in Rio de Janeiro in August 2015.
The report will be published as a Special Edition of The Cartographic Journal. It will have a section of introductory essays reflecting current UK issues as well as the usual summary of activities from each governmental, commercial and academic institution involved in mapping in the UK. This is an ideal opportunity to promote your organisation to the UK and international community. The last report was published in The Cartographic Journal, volume 48, no. 3, August 2011.
We would like you to contribute a short statement about your organisation, covering its principle activities in the mapping field, what it has achieved over the last four years and plans for the next four years. The statement should be 300-500 words long and you may include a single colour image of a product, map or database that you have published or worked on during that time, and a company logo.
Please make sure the statement is not overtly a marketing piece, but do include information on products, brands, etc. Please include your full contact details at the top of your submission as this will be published.
Illustrations should normally fit the Journal column width (85mm), but exceptionally illustrations up to 175 * 120mm may be accepted. Logos should fit within a space of 80*20mm or 40*40mm. They should be submitted as eps, tiff or jpeg format at 300dpi resolution.
The deadline for submission of the statement is 2nd March 2015.
All the contributions will be subject to review by the editorial team for this Cartographic Journal issue and any comments they may have will be discussed with you.
The report will be published by Maney, the commercial publishers of the Cartographic Journal. They will be sourcing advertising for the publication and your organisation may be interested in this opportunity.
Maney will contact you directly.
Please supply your statement as an email attachment to Anne Taylor at [log in to unmask]
Thank you in advance for your support; we plan to make the publication a comprehensive record of the state of UK mapping.
Best wishes,
David Forrest, Chair, UK Committee for Cartography
